The Finding The Hope Campaign in Cornwall, ON, began with one man—a retiree with an open heart and a willing spirit.
After hearing about Finding The Hope he realized that it is possible—possible to reach every home in an entire area with the Gospel message. God stirred him to respond with a significant financial gift to underwrite the outreach to all of Cornwall.
This response prompted us at the EHC office to communicate with ministers in Cornwall. We shared the vision and the news of significant resources that had become available. To our surprise, there was a lack of readiness to embrace the possibility of reaching every home in the community with the Gospel. For more than a year we prayerfully considered how to proceed.
Then, in one day, everything changed! A local pastor returned from a conference where he had experienced a fresh stirring of God and an urgent desire to reach lost people. At the very same time an email from EHC was waiting in his inbox, explaining the Finding The Hope vision and extending an invitation to consider launching a campaign in Cornwall.
His heart immediately embraced this idea and he replied to EHC right away. In a short time, nine churches had come together in God-honouring unity. They prayed together, planned together, trained together, and then mobilized the congregations to act. Before long, Cornwall’s Finding The Hope Campaign was in full swing.
The impact of the campaign is being felt daily. Pastor John Scorgie writes: “A gentleman in our congregation was burdened to give out the Finding The Hope tract material on his street. His particular street was not listed on the original masterplan because it was a newly developed neighbourhood. He asked me to order enough booklets for his street because he was eager to share the gospel with his neighbours. He did not want them to be neglected. He wanted them all to know that there was true hope in Jesus Christ. In the cold days of January this man went up and down his street and passed out the greatest news on earth!” Another pastor, Roy Stephenson, reports: “We had an incredible experience working with the Finding The Hope”.
