FINDING THE HOPE UPDATE
The presence of the Lord seemed to fill the room as I listened to Salvation Army Major Calvin Fudge share with me what the Lord has done through the Finding the Hope campaign in Corner Brook, Newfoundland.
“It was God’s plan to have churches come together for Finding the Hope from the beginning,” says Major Fudge with deep conviction. “Following the initial campaign, everyone felt that God wasn’t finished working through them as a group. So we continued to meet on a monthly basis to seek God’s direction.”
Major Fudge was new to the area at the time of the campaign. To him, the idea of placing a gospel booklet in every home simply made sense. But what he could not have anticipated was that the Lord would use the campaign as a catalyst for a much broader vision.
Three years later, pastors from eight churches now have a very special bond of care for each other, their respective congregations and for the spiritual transformation of their city.
Since the campaign they have jointly held summer outdoor gospel services and collected over $10,000 for the community food bank; held a city-wide prayer conference for revival; participated in the Christmas parade with a float presenting the Finding the Hope website address, and much more. Month after month they continue in prayer for the congregations of the city and each other’s ministry.
Truly the Lord is blessing this campaign with fruit that remains. The city and the Church continue to be deeply impacted by Finding the Hope. A spirit of competition and division has been replaced by mutual support and a deepening love. To God be all the glory!
