Elliott Lake shaken by tragedy

Uncategorized — September 17, 2012

“You probably heard of the mall collapse in Elliot Lake,” wrote Rev. Joan Clubine, associate pastor, of New Life Pentecostal Church in Elliot Lake in Northern Ontario. New Life sponsored its fourth campaign this September.

“The City has been shaken by the tragedy” in which two women died. Two members of the church were among those who escaped. The mall closed putting people out of work and hurting the local economy.

“I am looking now at our 2012 Finding the Hope Campaign, which should finish Elliot Lake [a town of nearly 6000 homes].”

Clubine reported that many of the mall businesses, which have to relocate, are moving to a block that will receive the Gospel message during the campaign.

“Maybe since this tragedy, people will be open to the gospel message of hope,”the pastor said.
